May 2, 2013 Missoula, Mont. — For the fourth year in a row, Adventure Cycling is kicking off its celebration of National Bike Month by launching its month-long U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) fundraising campaign, Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It. Thanks in part to the $150,000 raised over the last four years by this annual spring event, 5,071 miles of U.S. Bicycle Routes have been designated so far. Deschutes' "Black Butte to Mirror Pond” Bike Ride
April 29, 2013 Bend, Oregon (April 25, 2013) – Deschutes Brewery is celebrating its silver anniversary in true Oregon style with a big party on the river in downtown Bend, and a 40-mile bike ride appropriately named “Black Butte to Mirror Pond.” The celebrations are both taking place on Saturday, June 22. The bike ride, starts at the base of Black Butte and the route takes scenic dirt roads to end up at the finish line at Mirror Pond in downtown Bend’s Drake Park. This event is organized each year by Jet City Velo / Fischer Plumbing Cycling Team to help raise funds for the WSBA Junior Development Program. This fund was set up to honor Larry Kemp, a Jet City Velo / ByrneInvent team member and local racer, after his untimely death while cycling in Spain in 2004. April 23, 2013 Puget Sound Bike Share (PSBS), a nonprofit partnership of public and private organizations, selected Portland-based Alta Bicycle Share as its operator/vendor. Alta will work with PSBS to plan, launch and sustain a regional bike share network beginning with approximately 500 bikes and 50 stations in Seattle and eventually expanding into other areas of the Puget Sound region. One of the most experienced bike share companies in North America, Alta is behind the Capital Bike Share in Washington D.C. and Boston’s Hubway. In the coming months, the company will launch Citibike in New York City, as well as systems in Chicago, Vancouver, B.C., Portland and San Francisco. Read More
