NiteRider Teams Up with Two-Wheel Legends Dymond, Mirra, Zabriski and Bostrom to Light Up RAAM
May 22, 2014
San Diego, Calif. - NiteRider has announced their support to light up the road for Micky Dymond, Dave Mirra, Dave Zabriski and Ben Bostrom as they take on the infamous and grueling Race Across America (RAAM). Riding day and night for 3,000 miles non-stop, the race departs from Oceanside, California on June 14th and finishes in Annapolis, Maryland less than nine days later. The team’s goal is to finish in six days.
The powerhouse team of 2x Motocross Champion, Supermoto Champion and Pikes Peak Hill Climb record holder, Micky Dymond, 7x US National Time Trial Champion and Tour de France competitor, Dave Zabriskie, BMX Champion and 24x X Games medalist, Dave Mirra, and Superbike Champion, Supermoto Champion and professional mountain bike racer, Ben Bostrom, are dubbed Team Legends of the Road. The talent of all four seasoned athletes makes for the perfect recipe to race RAAM.
A tradition at NiteRider, the company regularly supports RAAM teams. This year, the Legends team will be running Lumina 700 front lights and Stinger taillights.
“As an endurance athlete my entire life, it has been a desire of mine to race RAAM, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to come together. Given the challenges of riding throughout the night, we also couldn't have a better light partner than NiteRider,” noted Dymond.
A large part of RAAM is the charitable component. Teammate Dave Zabriskie has a passion for educating and bringing awareness to safety on the road between cyclists and vehicles. His organization Yield to Life will be the charitable beneficiary for the team.
The team’s YouTube video series titled Riding The Line, will follow them on their unorthodox path to compete in the Race Across America. The team will also take a tour of NiteRider and walk viewers through the process of preparing and racing at night. The series will also go in-depth with each athlete, following them through their “normal” lives of competing in sports such as motorcycle racing, professional mountain biking, Ironmans, and more.
