Bicycles for Humanity Colorado to Hold Annual Fundraiser November 9

On November 9, 2012, Bicycles for Humanity Colorado will hold their annual fundraising gala. Join Bicycles for Humanity Colorado at Citizen Pictures in downtown Denver from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for a chance to bid on great auction items; it will be a fantastic party with great food, drink and music.
A few quick facts about Bicycles for Humanity Colorado:
• They have partnered with nonprofit organizations in Africa to develop community-based bike shops. The initiatives of the nonprofits are empowered by the bike shops they help to set up, with access to transportation, the additional funding received from the bike shops, and the ongoing employment and increased mobility of the community.
• They collect donated bikes and once had 300-400 bikes, that are then shipped in a container to one or two of the five bike shops they have that are running currently.
• In rural Africa, the bikes aid in access to healthcare workers, teachers, farmers and students.
• The African bike shops provide employment as well as additional profits which goes to help local water, healthcare, and education projects.
• Bicycles for Humanity is completely run by volunteers, and in doing so 100% of the proceeds goes back to the organization itself.
More than 3,000 bikes have already been shipped to Africa and in early October Bicycles for Humanity loaded up another 325 bikes to send to two shops in Namibia. The organizations in Africa are incredibly appreciative of the aid provided.
