Marymoor Velodrome Association Annual Meeting/General Election September 26

September 20, 2012

Seattle, Wash. - The Marymoor Velodrome Association will be holding its Annual Meeting/General Elections on September 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Patterson Cellars Hollywood Hills Tasting Room (14505 148th Avenue Northeast Woodinville, WA 98072).

This is an opportunity to reflect on the 2012 season, and voice your thoughts on what you thought worked and what could be improved. This is also when members can vote for candidates for the three MVA board spots opening this year.

People ask what does an MVA Board member do?

Quick answer is board members are ultimately responsible for the MVA’s performance of its core functions, and the organization’s well being. Good candidates are individuals who want to get involved, and take ownership of various projects within the organization and infuse them with their own personality and direction. Consequently, good organizational and project management skills are always a plus. Being a board member will entail an average of five hours per week commitment.

MVA Board terms are voluntary positions that are two years long. The Board consists of seven members and each new board appoints its own officers. Board officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer) are typically appointed by the board at its first regular meeting in October.

More information on the nature of each officer position is available at the MVA by-laws.

If you would like your candidate statement put on velodrome.org before the election, please e-mail to info@velodrome.org by September 23 at 5 p.m.

You do not have to be a member to run for the board, but you need to be a member to be on the board. You need to be a member to vote in the elections. Membership can be purchased at the meeting/general election on Sept 26.

You can vote in person, by proxy or by e-mail to info@velodrome.org by 630 p.m. on September 26.
