Ask Governor Gregoire for Fair Share for Walk, Bike, Transit
July 25, 2012
More than ever, people need more freedom to walk, bike, and ride transit affordably and comfortably. Unfortunately, Republicans in Congress pushed through the first major transportation funding bill in more than a decade that sends funding back to the 1950s.
But there’s still hope. Governor Gregoire has the authority to fairly allocate the transportation dollars to 21st Century priorities of creating great, healthy communities. Right now the Governor is forming a stakeholder group to advise her on the allocations, and will make a decision by September 1.
That’s why we’re collecting thousands of petitions asking Governor Gregoire to fairly allocate federal transportation dollars to walking, biking, and transit. We’ll deliver the petitions to the Governor in mid-August.
