Trebon Finds New Sponsor with SPY
July 24, 2012
Carlsbad, Calif. — Two-time US elite cyclocross champion Ryan Trebon — an absolute bruiser in both professional cyclocross and mountain bike racing — now sits in the saddle for SPY. Nicknamed “Tree Farm” for his lanky 6’5” frame, Trebon will rock SPY Performance shades while leaving a wake of those he punished far behind.
“Ryan’s laid back and humorous personality fits right in with SPY, but that disappears as soon as he clips in,” says Jim Miller, SPY Performance sales director. “He’s one of the most dominant cyclocross racers the US has ever produced, and his recent signing with team Cannondale and wins at the UTE Valley Pro XCT proves he’s on point for long-term success.”
Easily identified by his aggressive and attacking style, Trebon looks good in gold. The CX and mountain bike US national champion has climbed, sprinted and sweated buckets to earn titles in US Cross in 2006 and 2008, cross-country in 2006, and short track in 2007. Ruffling feathers in 2006, Trebon became the first American man to claim national championships in cross-country mountain bike and cyclocross.
Throughout the late 2000’s, Trebon dominated the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross Series, winning the overall title four times and earning a place next to fellow SPY cyclist Jonathon Page on the 2011 USA Cycling elite cyclocross team.
Native to California, Trebon currently rides and resides in Bend, Oregon, subjecting himself to arduous training tours through the rugged terrain of the Pacific Northwest. True to his Golden State roots, Trebon still frequents Southern California to compete in various SoCalCross events and absorb a healthy dose of Vitamin D.
“I really like that SPY has a big hand in supporting cyclocross, and it doesn’t hurt that their CEO is an elite cyclocross and category 1 racer himself,” says Trebon. “They make killer shades and I look forward to taking back my cross crown in them.”
