New Courses Announced for 2012 Hood River Gran Fondo

June 28, 2012

The 2012 version of the Hood River Gran Fondo on September 22nd rearranges the best parts of the prior rides and adds a few new roads to create the most spectacular event yet.

Upon leaving downtown under a police escort the ride heads south through the Hood River Valley where riders will be rewarded with amazing views of Mt Hood. The route meanders along the Hood River, then heads east through the endless pear orchards.

In addition to the bounty from the fall Harvest, Mt Adams stands tall overlooking the valley. Upon reaching the Columbia River, the Gorge portion of the ride begins. Voted the sixth most scenic location in the world, riders will find amazing views and experience the nostalgia of the Historic Columbia River Gorge Highway.

Gran Fondo riders will challenge their climbing legs going up the infamous timed 7-mile road climb. Upon hitting the summit, Mt Adams surfaces again with a breathtaking view from the top. Riders will stroll back into town where the party begins!
