Ottawa, ON – (April 19, 2012) Four Canadian officials, also known as commissaires in the cycling environment, have been selected to work at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London, this summer, recently announced the International Cycling Union (UCI).

- Wayne Pomario (BC) — Track cycling

Loyal MA (AB) — BMX cycling

- Kevin MacCuish (BC) — BMX cycling

- Josée Bédard (QC) — Para-cycling

“Canada will be well represented at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with these outstanding individuals,” said Mathieu Boucher, director of development at the Canadian Cycling Association. “We have a strong program in place at the CCA to ensure the growth and development of commissaires in Canada as they play a critical role in cycling races.”

Commissaires hold a similar role as judges or referees, ensuring that all the international rules are followed by the competitors, and that the race is fair and safe.
