2012 NAHBS Awards
April 4, 2012 After riding his show bike for 450 miles, unsupported between Eureka and Sacramento, Calif., to attend the North American Handmade Bicycle Show at the beginning of March, Naked Bicycles owner Sam Whittingham claimed two awards at this year’s event. The Quadra Island, BC, resident was recognized in the Best Mountain Bike category and received top honor in the Gates Carbon Drive design contest for his turn buckle belt tensioner, which provides a quick and simple way to keep the belt adjusted for optimum efficiency. The People’s Choice Award went to builder Paul Brodie of Brodie Bikes based out of Vancouver, BC, for his 1888 replica of a Whipett. Read More

Bushnell Eccentric Bottom Bracket Receives U.S. Patent
December 8, 2011 Bikebiz III, the parent company that owns Bushnell Cycles announced today that the U.S. Patent office issued Patent No. 8,070,633 to the Bushnell eccentric bottom bracket design. The patent was issued on Dec. 6th, 2011. Bikebiz III has another patent in the works for their tandem specific brake design. That patent is due to be issued within weeks of this release. Read More
